Slots Terminologies:

Tilt. This refers to a mechanism that was built into the earliest slots machines. In the old days of mechanically driven slots machines, tilt switches were built in that helped guard against the machines being handled too roughly. While the more modern slots machines no longer have tilt switches installed, the term “tilt” is still used to refer to any type of mechanical failure such as a door switch being in the wrong position, or failure of the motor.

Theoretical Hold Worksheet. This is the term used to describe a document that is provided by the manufacturer for all slot machines. It provides among other things information about the theoretical percentage that slots machines should hold, which is in turn based on varying levels of coin-in. This worksheet also often indicates settings of the reel strip, the number of coins that can be played, the schedule of payouts, the number of reels and other information that is relevant to the particular type of slots machine.

Weight count. This is a term typically used in American casinos, and refers to the dollar amount of the coins or the tokens that are removed from the drop bucket or drop box of the slots machines.
